State of Tennessee's Self-Service Portal

The Comprehensive Online Regulatory & Enforcement System or “CORE” is the State’s self-service portal for purchasing electrical permits and scheduling electrical inspections.

How do I create a CORE account?

The State of Tennesee has provided a helpful video to guide new users through the process of creating a CORE account.

How do I contact our local electrical inspector?

Our area’s State Electrical Inspector is Raymond Keene.

To schedule an inspection, call (615)741-7170 or use your online account.

Inspections are available Mondays and Wednesdays ONLY for Unicoi County.

Inspections must be scheduled at least 24-hours in advance.

How do I contact the local building inspector?

Town of Erwin Building Inspections:   (423)743-6231

A Certificate of Occupancy from the Town of Erwin Building Inspector is required for all new structures requiring Electric, Water, and Wastewater services inside the city. It is the responsibility of the Customer to call the Town of Erwin Building Inspector to schedule an inspection.

Town of Unicoi Building Inspections:  (423)743-7162

A building inspection is required by the town of Unicoi for all new structures. It is the responsibility of the Customer to call the Town of Unicoi Building Inspector to schedule an inspection.

All new Sanitary Sewer Construction must be inspected and approved by Erwin Utilities prior to backfilling the sewer trench. Please view the Sewer Installation Guide for instructions, standards, and specifications for sewer service lines.

For sewer inspections, please contact Erwin Utilities Engineering Department at 423-743-1844 to request a sewer inspection at least 48 hours prior to the requested inspection date.
